Job summary

Care on Call is seeking compassionate caregivers to support clients in Gisborne with daily tasks, companionship and home care, empowering them to achieve their goals.

If you have experience in community, residential, aged care or rehab, a clean full NZ driver’s licence, and a reliable, friendly, proactive attitude, we’d love to hear from you. Regular 2–5 shifts per week, some weekend work, and training with NZQA recognised qualifications are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience as caregiver/support worker with similar clients.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and team.
• Hold a current clean full NZ driver's licence.
• NZ work rights confirmed.

Job description

Care on Call is passionate about supporting people in the community and we take pride in the personalised service we deliver to clients and the staff we work with. We have clients needing some help around their home, companionship and support with their daily activities around Gisborne. We are looking for the cream of the crop caregivers/support workers who can empower our clients and help them achieve their goals. It would be desirable if you had previous experience working in a community, residential, aged care or rehab setting. You will join an existing supportive and caring team who look after our clients with their daily tasks, social activities and work commitments.

• Personal cares (showering, toileting, dressing)
• Passive exercises and stretches
• House work and meal preparation
• Driving client’s in their vehicle to get to appointments, work meetings and community/social events

We believe in providing consistency of care and are ideally looking for people who can regularly do 2-5 shifts/week over a 7-day period, including some weekends (although not necessarily every weekend).

To match well with our clients you will need to be a special kind of person. One that has initiative, gets on well with others, is able to adapt to various situations and settings, can follow set processes and tasks, is proactive, has a ‘can do’ attitude and has great community skills.

Additional requirements

• Great communication skills
• Currently located in Gisborne
• A current, clean full driver’s licence
• Previous experience as a caregiver/support worker with similar clients
• The legal right to work in NZ
• Energetic, initiative, and a good sense of humor
• To be reliable, punctual, honest and caring
