Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Community Sports Development Officer to promote participation in sports across the local community in Welkom and surrounding areas. You will develop, implement, and coordinate programs, forging partnerships with schools, clubs, and organisations to improve access to sporting opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in sports development, community engagement, or event management.
• Strong understanding of the principles of sports coaching and physical activity promotion.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse community groups.
• Proven ability to manage projects and budgets effectively.
• A passion for sport and its role in community development.
• A relevant qualification in sports science, community development, or a related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage a range of community sports programs and events to encourage participation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, sports clubs, community groups, and government bodies.
• Identify opportunities to increase sports participation, particularly among youth, women, and people with disabilities.
• Secure funding and resources through grant applications and sponsorships to support program delivery.
• Promote sports programs and encourage community engagement through various communication channels.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, providing reports on outcomes and impact.
