Job summary

Christchurch City Council seeks a Community Partnerships Ranger (Fixed Term) to engage with volunteers and community groups across our greenspaces. We're seeking a motivated Community Partnerships Ranger based within the Council's Community Parks team to collaborate with community and volunteers in our greenspaces.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

• Be the point of contact for volunteers and community groups, primarily on the Te Poho-o-Tamatea-Port Hills and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautu-Banks Peninsula.
• Support initiatives that enhance biodiversity, recreation and amenity value across our green spaces.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and community groups.
• Organise and provide on-the-ground support for working bees and events.

Liaise and collaborate with Council staff and other agencies to support volunteer initiatives and provide opportunities for people to connect with and contribute to their local greenspaces.

You’ll be a self-starter, focusing your efforts on engaging with community groups, volunteers and passionate individuals that are contributing to biodiversity and recreation in our Community Parks. Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills will allow you to set our stakeholders up to succeed. You will be ready to get stuck in and take proactive action when needed.

Being personable and approachable is essential for this role to foster relationships with a wide range of groups and stakeholders.

• Hours of work – Full-time, 40 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday. Please note there will be occasional evening and weekend work to support community-led initiatives and events.
• Position – Full-time fixed-term/secondment, approximately 11 months.
• Location – This position is primarily based at 180 Smith Street, Linwood, with work primarily across Te Poho-o-Tamatea Port Hills and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula.
• Salary The hourly rate for this position is $39.05 to $43.39 per hour. Starting rates will be based on the knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both within the immediate team and across the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
