Job summary

Christchurch City Council in New Zealand is seeking a Regional Park Ranger – Project Manager to lead field teams focused on wetland biodiversity, mowing and amenity upkeep across Ōtautahi Christchurch’s regional parks.

You will split time between field and office tasks, planning, organizing, and supervising, using a range of equipment, and working within council systems for health and safety, reporting and asset management, while engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Here at Christchurch City Council, our work is in the city that surrounds us. Our Regional Parks team manages natural and developed open spaces across Ōtautahi-Christchurch and Te Pātaka o Rākaihautu-Banks Peninsula, primarily focused on biodiversity conservation and recreation.

As a Regional Park Ranger – Project Manager, you’ll supervise a team of field staff focused on wetland biodiversity, mowing and amenity maintenance.

A typical day will involve a mix of field and office-based work. You’ll be expected to use a range of light and heavy equipment and tools, so you’ll need to be comfortable with the practical elements of the role.

You’ll be working within our Council systems, including:

• Health and safety
• Reporting
• Asset management

You’ll also engage with a wide and diverse community, as well as key stakeholders including:

• Position - Full-time, permanent
• Location - This position is primarily based at theHalswell Quarry H.Q
• Salary-The salary band for this position goes from $96,465 - $107,183 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
