Job summary

The Salvation Army in Hawke's Bay is seeking a Community Ministries Food Logistics Worker to support food distribution and storage for those in need. This permanent part-time role (16 hours per week) involves collecting and delivering items from donors, recording donations, and helping run the food bank.

You will work with a small team, lift items safely, and use Microsoft Office. The role includes onsite parking and access to wellbeing supports.

Qualifications

  • Be great on the computer, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be able to lift and load heavy items safely.
  • Able to work co-operatively in a team environment.
  • Be hard working and focused.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, recording and storing donated and purchased food.
  • Assisting with the running and stocking of food bank.
  • Ensuring food bank areas are clean and tidy.
  • Basic office administration.

About the Business:

We are a small and friendly staff team doing our best to make a difference in our community. We operate under the values of The Salvation Army to be connected, compassionate, innovative and courageous in all that we do. Onsite is our church, Community Ministries and a Family Store. We run a foodbank 2 afternoons a week and network with other community based organisations.

About the Role:

A vital part of a team that offers service to community members experiencing food insecurity.

The Food Logistics Worker is responsibe for:
  • The collection and delivery of items from donors, corporate partners and partner organisations to the Community Ministries Centre
  • Ensuring that food is collected, stored and resdistributed safely, effectively and in a timely fashion
What will your responsibilities be:
  • Receiving, recording and storing donated and purchased food
  • Assisting with the running and stocking of food bank
  • Ensuring food bank areas are clean and tidy
  • Basic office administration

This role is permanent part time andhours worked will be 16 per week, with the opportunity for additional hours to cover staff absences. The hours of work will be Tuesday 9-12, Weds and Thurs 9 - 2.30pm, Fri 9-12.

The starting salary for this role will be $24,876 (16 hrs pw)

The starting hourly rate for this role will be $29.90
