Job summary

Waikato District Councils’ Tairua Library is seeking two people to share delivery of library services in Tairua. The role blends community engagement, programme development, reader advisory and digital support to keep the library a welcoming hub for all generations.

A typical day includes helping users with digital tech, recommending books, planning events and handling routine library tasks. You’ll work with schools, community groups and residents, with support from a district team.

Qualifications

• Has a passion for libraries, literacy and community engagement.
• Enjoys building relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Is creative and confident in developing and delivering programmes and events.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable providing digital and technology assistance to customers.

Responsibilities

• Support library users with digital technologies, online resources, and everyday technology questions.
• Recommend and discuss books with adults and children.
• Plan and deliver library events and programmes.
• Perform library tasks such as issues, returns and shelving.
