Job summary
Selwyn District Council is seeking a Community Library Service Centre Assistant for a 30-hour-a-week fixed-term role until January 2026. Based at Te Ara Ātea, you will greet visitors, assist with digital resources, and help people access library and council services across sites.
You will bring strong customer service, clear communication, and a practical approach to working with diverse communities, including tamariki and rangatahi, plus a NZ driver’s license and the ability to meet the 42

Responsibilities
- Welcome and interact with visitors of all ages
- Proactively engage visitors to maintain a safe, inclusive atmosphere
- Provide assistance with technology and digital resources
- Assist the community with library and council services
- Help people connect to central government and Heartlands initiatives
- Find, recommend and shelve books and keep collections tidy
