Job summary

Downer New Zealand is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support the Ōtaki to North of Levin project. The role focuses on communications, engagement, and administrative activities that connect the project with stakeholders and communities.

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager, you will ensure timely, clear, and culturally respectful communication while maintaining robust systems. A tertiary qualification in communications or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in communications, customer service, community engagement, or events.
• Experience in infrastructure or construction environments beneficial.
• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to C&E teams, including document formatting, filing, and correspondence.
• Support procurement and invoicing processes related to communications activities
• Help respond to public enquiries and feedback, including by phone and email
• Provide logistical and administrative support for engagement events
• Assist in implementing the communications plan
• Draft and distribute communication materials (e.g., letters, newsletters, social media updates)
• Support internal and external events
• Promote the Ōtaki to north of Levin Highway project professionally and respectfully.
• Reflect the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi – Partnership, Participation, and Protection – in daily interactions.
