Job summary

The Salvation Army Westgate café is seeking a Front of House Café Barista to create a warm, welcoming space at the heart of our community. This role suits someone who loves people and hospitality and can help residents, families, volunteers, and customers feel seen and valued.

You will work 10 hours a week in a permanent part-time arrangement, with duties from coffee and food service to safeguarding high standards of service, stock checks, and assisting the café manager to keep operations smooth

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, beverages and food.
• Deliver exceptional customer service. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Build positive relationships with regular customers.
• Maintain high standards of food presentation and service.
• Handle customer enquiries professionally.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and cash-handling procedures.
• Support opening and closing procedures.
• Oversee operations when the café Manager is absent.
• Foster genuine connections with customers and community members.
• Promote awareness of Salvation Army services where appropriate.
• Connect people with support services.
• Capture stories and examples of community impact.
• Promote belonging and social connection.
• Ensure displays reflect The Salvation Army mission and values.
• Work with church staff, social services staff and volunteers.
• Share information and ideas.
• Raise concerns in a timely manner.
• Support a positive and respectful team culture.
• Assist the café Manager to improve operations and customer experience.
