Job summary

Earth Sciences New Zealand is seeking an Internal Communications Lead to shape and execute our internal comms strategy. You will work closely with the CEO, senior leaders, and People & Transformation teams to ensure staff are informed, engaged, and connected across locations.

You’ll craft clear narratives about our science and people, support major organisational change, and elevate staff voice through compelling storytelling and channels including our intranet.

What You’ll Do:

Earth Sciences New Zealand is bringing together people, capabilities and cultures from across several organisations. As our Internal Communications Lead, you’ll help our people understand where we’re heading, what’s changing and why – and strengthen connection across a workforce of around 1,500 people working in different roles and locations across New Zealand.

We’re looking for an experienced internal communications professional who can operate at both a strategic and hands-on level. You’ll work closely with our Chief Executive, senior leaders, People and Transformation teams and colleagues across the organisation, providing trusted advice as well as delivering high-quality communications.

You’ll have real scope to shape our approach to internal communications: developing our internal communications and engagement plan, helping establish our new intranet as a valued channel for staff, supporting major organisational change, and finding compelling ways to tell the stories of our people and science.

You’ll be an excellent writer and communicator, comfortable working with senior leaders, able to build relationships quickly and confident navigating a large and changing organisation. You don’t need to be a scientist – but you will need to be curious about our science, our people and the impact of their work.
