Job description

Driven by our mission to create solutions for better living, we’re proud to make a meaningful difference in the lives of tens of thousands of New Zealanders each year.
We provide a comprehensive range of disability and rehabilitation equipment, housing modifications, and support services—empowering people to live more independently.

About the role

Are you an experienced communications professional who enjoys bringing strategy to life through engaging storytelling, meaningful employee engagement and impactful stakeholder communications?

We are looking for a Communications & Engagement Advisor to lead the way we communicate across our organisation. This is a newly created role that partners closely with our strategic and operational leaders to strengthen communication, enhance employee engagement, support organisational change, and elevate our brand.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence organisational culture, improve how we connect with our people and stakeholders, and help showcase the positive impact our services have across New Zealand.

This is a varied and hands‑on position where no two days are the same. You’ll support the development of our communication strategy and take the lead in bringing it to life across the organisation. This role will play a key role in supporting organisational change, coordinating employee engagement initiatives, creating engaging content, and ensuring consistent, effective communication across the business. You’ll also produce high‑quality reports and presentations that tell the story behind our performance and outcomes.

You’ll work collaboratively across the business to ensure communications are clear, consistent, timely and aligned with our organisational values and strategic priorities.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Coordinating and delivering internal and external communication strategies and annual communication plans.
  • Leading employee engagement communications, newsletters, leadership messaging and organisational updates.
  • Supporting organisational projects and change initiatives through effective communication planning and delivery.
  • Creating compelling stories that highlight client outcomes, organisational achievements and community impact.
About You

You’re an experienced communications professional who enjoys turning strategy into practical delivery. You build strong relationships, communicate with confidence and know how to tailor messages for different audiences.

You’ll also bring:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years’ experience in communications in a similar role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience using Canva and digital communication platforms such as SharePoint, social media and website content management systems.
  • Experience within the health, disability, community services or government sectors would be highly regarded.
  • Lived or observed experience of disability is welcomed and valued.

We’re open to shaping the role around the right fit for both the individual and our team. The position offers flexibility between 25–40 hours per week, on‑site, during our standard business hours. If you have the skills and experience we’re looking for, we’re happy to have a conversation about what works best for both.

Why Accessable?

Reporting to a senior manager, you’ll actively contribute to day‑to‑day operational activities by collaborating across departments to drive communications service excellence. Our team culture is inclusive, supportive, and values real impact – you’ll finish each day knowing your work matters.

We offer a safe, welcoming, and inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity and lived experience. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in an organisation committed to improving outcomes for the people and communities we support.

Is this the role for you?
Please note:
  • You must have the right to work in New Zealand and be willing to undergo a Criminal History Check.
  • Overseas applications will not be considered.
