Job summary

RELX INC is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel - Pacific to support Australia and New Zealand businesses with commercial contracts and strategic legal advice. You will help negotiate customer and supplier agreements while balancing risk and business objectives.

You will work on AI-enabled products, content licensing and technology initiatives, collaborating with regional and global teams and driving practical, efficient legal solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' PQE and admission to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
• Strong commercial contracting experience.
• Experience in top-tier firm or large corporate in-house.
• Ability to manage matters independently.
• Strong stakeholder management, drafting and negotiation.
• Experience using generative AI in legal work.
• Commercially pragmatic mindset and ability to manage priorities.
• Curiosity, adaptability for tech/product transformation.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Negotiate with customers, suppliers and counterparties.
• Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice balancing risk.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand.
• Support key business projects including AI-enabled solutions.
• Use generative AI and legal technology to improve efficiency.
• Develop templates, playbooks and practical guidance.
• Deliver legal training and participate in legal clinics.
• Support disputes and manage external counsel.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues across the Pacific and internationally.
