Job summary

AXIAM METALS LIMITED is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Setter to lead programming, setting and optimisation of CNC machinery from drawings and CAD models to first-off production.

You will develop machining strategies, improve cycle times, tool utilisation and quality performance while supporting operators and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in CNC programming and setting.
• Strong engineering drawing and GD&T knowledge.
• Understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining processes.

Responsibilities

• CNC programming using Autodesk PowerMill and machine controls.
• Setting and operating CNC machining centres and lathes.
• Developing machining strategies to improve cycle times and tool utilisation.
• Fixture and workholding design and improvement.
• Program proving, first-off inspections and process optimisation.
• Troubleshooting machining and quality issues.

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter to join our manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on, technically focused role for someone who enjoys getting the best out of CNC machinery, solving machining challenges and finding smarter, more efficient ways to manufacture quality components.

You’ll be involved in programming, setting, proving and optimising CNC machines, working from engineering drawings and CAD models through to first-off production and ongoing process improvement.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have solid experience in CNC programming and setting, strong engineering drawing and GD&T knowledge, and a good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining processes.

You’ll be a problem solver, technically minded and quality focused, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team.

Experience with PowerMill, Fanuc, Mazak, DMG Mori, aluminium machining, multi-axis machining or macro programming would be a real advantage.

A relevant trade qualification in Engineering, Fitting & Machining, Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking is desirable.
