Job summary

Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Wellington Regional Hospital, is seeking a part-time Clinical Resource Nurse to join the Integrated Operations Centre. This fixed-term role supports variance response, mentors staff, and coordinates staffing and clinical resources across the 24/7 hospital service.

You will work with the Duty Nurse Manager, provide clinical expertise, participate in shift planning, rounds, and escalation of complex cases, ensuring safe patient care and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Must hold NZ nursing registration and current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand and hold a current work visa.
• NZRC Core Advanced and proficient with PDRP.
• Advanced Pain Management experience.
• Commitment to ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Review patient acuity, staffing, and assignments.
• Rounds with nurses to assess care priorities and assist with complex cases.
• Coordinate with physicians, case managers, and allied health teams.
• Provide coaching and clinical education to nurses.
• Respond to MET calls or clinical emergencies as a resource for decision-making.
• Monitor adherence to policies, infection control practices, and documentation standards.
• Update staffing plans and participate in safety meetings and quality projects.
• Review patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care during shift transitions.
