Job summary

Lepperton School in Taranaki is seeking an experienced classroom teacher for a permanent, full-time Scale A position beginning Term 1, 2027. The year level will be negotiated to reflect the successful candidate’s strengths and interests.

Qualifications

• We are seeking a teacher with strong literacy knowledge and proven ability to teach reading and writing.
• Experience with Structured Literacy approaches is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and te reo Māori is important.

Responsibilities

• Teach primary and intermediate students (Years 1–8) in English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts.
• Contribute to school-wide professional learning and collaborate with colleagues.
• Build positive relationships with ākonga and whānau and reflect on teaching practice.

We are seeking an experienced, passionate classroom teacher to join our team in a permanent, full-time Scale A position, beginning Term 1, 2027. The year level will be negotiated to reflect the successful candidate’s experience, strengths and interests.

We are particularly looking for a teacher who brings strength in literacy and is confident in the explicit teaching of reading and writing. Training and experience in Structured Literacy approaches is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, particularly in the teaching of reading and writing


• Is trained in, or has experience with, Structured Literacy and understands the Science of Learning


• Has a sound understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum


• Is culturally responsive and values te reo Māori and mātauranga Māori


• Builds strong, positive relationships with ākonga and whānau


• Is collaborative, reflective and committed to ongoing professional learning


• Is willing to adapt, contribute and grow alongside our team
