Job summary

SSB Transport Limited in Palmerston North, Manawatu / Wanganui, New Zealand, is seeking a Class 5 Truck Driver to join our team.

You will plan routes, operate trucks on diverse routes, supervise loading, and keep delivery records while upholding safety and regulatory standards. A NZ Class 5 Driver License is required, with willingness to obtain Forklift and DG licenses if not already held. Weekend and day/night shifts are possible, with 30–70 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a truck driver in a similar role.
• Possession of a valid NZ Class 5 Driver License or an equivalent overseas license.
• Ability to pass mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
• Availability for weekend and day/night shifts as required by the schedule.
• Flexibility to work between 30 to 70 hours weekly based on operational needs.
• Willingness to obtain Forklift and Dangerous Goods (DG) licenses if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute delivery routes to ensure timely arrival of goods.
• Operate trucks on various routes, adhering to all traffic regulations.
• Supervise the loading and unloading of products, ensuring careful handling.
• Transport fragile and heavy items with utmost care and precision.
• Maintain and update delivery records accurately for tracking purposes.
• Conduct daily inspections of the truck for cleanliness and mechanical integrity.
• Monitor fuel levels and refuel the truck as needed during operations.
• Report any mechanical defects or maintenance needs promptly to management.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
• Participate in regular safety training and adhere to best practices.
