Job summary

SSB Transport Limited in Palmerston North, Manawatu / Wanganui, New Zealand, seeks a Class 5 Truck Driver to ensure timely deliveries and safe handling of goods. Applicants should have NZ Class 5 license or overseas equivalent and be able to pass drugs and alcohol testing.

Weekend and day/night shifts may be required, with 30–70 hours per week. Role requires commitment to safety, daily truck inspections, and potential licensing for forklift and DG where not held.

Qualifications

• 2+ years truck driving experience
• NZ Class 5 Driver License or overseas equivalent
• Able to pass mandatory drug and alcohol testing
• Willingness to work weekends and day/night shifts
• Willingness to obtain Forklift and DG license if not held

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute delivery routes to ensure timely arrival of goods.
• Operate trucks on various routes following traffic regulations.
• Supervise loading/unloading of products with careful handling.
• Transport fragile and heavy items with utmost care.
• Maintain delivery records for tracking purposes.
• Conduct daily truck inspections for cleanliness and mechanical integrity.
• Monitor fuel levels and refuel as needed during operations.
• Report mechanical defects or maintenance needs to management.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
• Participate in safety training and adhere to best practices.
