Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Class 5 Driver to join our Wairoa team in the Hawke's Bay region. You will operate heavy vehicles on construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects across the region, delivering materials and equipment safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Current Class 5 Driver Licence.
• W, T and R endorsements are advantageous.
• Proven experience operating heavy vehicles in construction, transport, infrastructure, or related industries.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and safe work practices.
• Ability to follow procedures, schedules, and instructions accurately.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
• D Endorsement and Spill Kit Training are desirable.
• Knowledge of civil construction plant and equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Transport materials, plant, and equipment to sites.
• Load, unload, and secure loads per safety requirements.
• Complete delivery documents, logbooks, weight records, and inspection reports.
• Undertake pre-start inspections and carry out basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment remain compliant and roadworthy.
• Report maintenance needs, defects, incidents, and hazards promptly.
• Follow company procedures, project specifications, and industry best practices.
• Work professionally with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public.
• Support operational teams with additional site duties when required.
