Job summary

RG Reinforcing Limited is seeking reliable Class 4 Truck Drivers to safely operate trucks, transport reinforcing steel and prefabricated products to construction sites across the Waikato region. The role emphasizes load restraint, route planning, daily checks and strong safety discipline.

Applicants should hold a current NZ Class 4 licence with at least 1 year driving experience, be physically fit, and have good communication skills. Weekend availability may be required for project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 4 trucks safely for delivery of reinforcing steel and products.
• Deliver materials to construction sites and yards within surrounding areas.
• Load, unload and secure loads, ensuring proper restraint and balance.
• Check and document delivery details and required paperwork.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily safety checks.
• Plan efficient routes to meet delivery times.
• Communicate delivery requirements with dispatch and customers.
• Follow health and safety policies and site requirements.
• Be flexible for overtime as project needs arise.

RG Reinforcing Limited,

is a specialist reinforcing steel company supplying the construction industry with reinforcing steel, including cut and bent reinforcing, prefabricated reinforcement cages, pile cages, retaining wall cages and pre-welded footing cages. We are looking forreliable and experienced Class 4 Truck Drivers to join our team and support the safe and timely delivery of reinforcing steel and prefabricated products to construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 4 trucks for the transportation and delivery of reinforcing steel and prefabricated reinforcing products.
• Transport reinforcing bars, mesh, steel cages, pile cages, footing cages, retaining wall cages and other construction-related materials.
• Load, unload and position reinforcing steel and fabricated products safely and efficiently.
• Secure long, heavy and irregularly shaped steel loads correctly in accordance with NZ road safety requirements.
• Check loads before departure to ensure they are correctly secured, balanced and protected against movement or damage.
• Deliver materials safely to construction sites, yards and customer locations throughout surrounding areas.
• Manoeuvre trucks safely in confined areas, construction sites, loading yards and delivery locations.
• Follow site safety procedures and comply with instructions from site supervisors and customers.
• Communicate with dispatch, workshop staff, site personnel and customers regarding delivery requirements and access.
• Check delivery documentation and ensure the correct materials are delivered to the correct location.
• Assist with loading and unloading using appropriate equipment and follow safe lifting and handling procedures.
• Carry out daily pre-start and vehicle safety checks and report any faults, damage or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Maintain the truck in a clean, safe and presentable condition.
• Plan and follow efficient delivery routes while meeting scheduled delivery times.
• Complete delivery records and other required documentation accurately.
• Represent RG Reinforcing professionally when dealing with customers, contractors and construction-site personnel.
• Follow all company health and safety policies, site requirements, traffic laws and New Zealand road transport regulations.
• Be flexible to work additional hours or weekends when required by project and delivery schedules.

Skills and Experience

• Valid New Zealand Class 4 Driver Licence.
• Minimum1 year of Class 4 driving experience preferred.
• Good understanding of load restraint and safe transportation of heavy and long materials.
• Clean and responsible driving record.
• Physically fit and capable of handling and securing heavy construction materials.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Safety-focused with a professional and positive attitude.
• Good customer service skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with site personnel and customers.
• Ability to follow instructions, delivery schedules and workplace safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work weekends and additional hours when required.
