Job summary

SouthRoads Ltd in Invercargill is seeking Class 4/5 Driver Operators to join our civil construction teams across Southland and Otago. This permanent, full-time role offers a minimum 40-hour week, ongoing training, and the chance to work with modern plant and equipment on diverse sites.

You’ll drive and operate Class 4/5 vehicles, transport materials, assist with earthworks and road works, perform daily inspections, and uphold health and safety standards as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Current Class 4 or Class 5 driver's licence.
• 3 years' recent experience operating excavators, graders, rollers, loaders, pavers on civil construction or roading projects, or NZQCF Level 4 qualification.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Reliable work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate Class 4 and Class 5 vehicles.
• Transport construction materials, plant, and equipment to and from sites.
• Assist with earthworks, road construction, quarrying and maintenance projects.
• Carry out labouring and site support duties as required.
• Complete daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Work as part of a team to deliver quality project outcomes.

What's the opportunity?

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Southland, working across a variety of project locations throughout the region.

You’ll be part of a skilled crew delivering civil construction projects ranging from quarry sites, subdivisions and private developments to local council and NZTA roading works. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with additional hours and overtime available when project requirements demand.
