Responsabilités

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Personal Lines Claims department and manage a team of adjusters and staff.
• Develop and implement claims handling policies and service standards to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor performance metrics such as cycle times, settlement ratios and costs; drive improvements.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established insurance company, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Claims Manager to lead their Personal Lines Claims department in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a strong operational background in claims management, aiming to optimize claims handling processes, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain departmental efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of personal lines insurance products, and a commitment to fostering a high-performing team. You will be instrumental in driving service excellence and ensuring fair and timely claims resolutions for our policyholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Personal Lines Claims department, managing a team of claims adjusters and support staff.
• Develop and implement claims handling policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor claims performance metrics, including cycle times, accuracy, settlement ratios, and cost containment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal guidelines.
• Manage complex claims, providing guidance and support to the team on challenging cases.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance claims handling efficiency.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and facilitate professional development for team members.
• Manage departmental budget and resources effectively.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Underwriting, Sales, and Actuarial, to ensure seamless integration and information flow.
• Represent the Claims department in relevant meetings and projects.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred, along with industry-specific certifications.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in insurance claims management, with a significant focus on personal lines.
• Proven leadership and team management experience, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
• In-depth knowledge of personal lines insurance products (e.g., household, motor, travel).
• Strong understanding of claims investigation, assessment, negotiation, and settlement processes.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant South African insurance legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze claims data and implement process improvements.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and standard office software.
