Job summary

Downer Group is seeking a Claims and Billing Manager (Water NZ) to lead national claims and billing across O&M contracts. You will drive WIP reduction, optimize cashflow, and standardise processes.

The role partners with Finance, Commercial and Operations to deliver improved claiming outcomes and revenue performance. The successful candidate will oversee a team of ~16, work with ERP/work management systems (JDE, Microsoft Dynamics), and report to the Head of Finance - Water NZ.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in claims and billing within a large corporate environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing sizeable billing or claims teams.
• Strong understanding of WIP management, cashflow, invoicing and end-to-end claiming processes.

Lead claims and billing across Water NZ, driving stronger WIP management, cashflow and consistent processes across our national operations.

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Claims and Billing Manager (Water NZ) to join our Water NZ business, reporting to the Head of Finance - Water NZ.

This is a key national leadership role responsible for claims and billing across our O&M contracts throughout New Zealand. You'll lead a team of approximately 16, partnering closely with Finance, Commercial and Operations to improve claiming outcomes, reduce WIP, optimise cashflow and establish consistent, efficient processes across the business.

With significant opportunity to shape the structure and ways of working of the function, this role will suit a hands-on leader who enjoys driving improvement and delivering measurable financial outcomes.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years' experience in claims and billing within a large corporate environment, ideally supporting large O&M contracts.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing sizeable billing or claims teams.
• Strong understanding of WIP management, cashflow, invoicing and end-to-end claiming processes.
• Experience with large ERP/work management systems, ideally JDE and/or Microsoft Dynamics, with strong Excel capability.
• A proactive, hands-on leadership style with strong stakeholder management, problem-solving and process improvement capability.
