Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a junior or experienced Claims Specialist to join an established insurance brokerage in a flexible, part-time capacity in Christchurch. You will manage commercial and domestic claims from lodgement through to resolution, keeping clients informed at every stage.

Working with the Claims Manager, you will liaise with insurers, loss adjusters and other third parties to progress claims and achieve timely outcomes while delivering high levels of client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of predominantly commercial claims from lodgement to resolution.
• Lodge claims and ensure relevant information and documentation are captured.
• Review policy coverage and claim information to ensure clear communication.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the claims process.
• Liaise with insurers, repairers, assessors, loss adjusters and other third parties.
• Coordinate quotes, assessments, repairs, invoices and documentation.
• Monitor outstanding actions and drive claims toward resolution.
• Advocate for clients when dealing with insurers and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate claims records and documentation.
• Support the Claims Manager and wider brokerage team as required.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior or experienced Claims Specialist to join an established and growing insurance brokerage in a flexible, part-time capacity.

Working closely with the Claims Manager, you'll take ownership of claims from lodgement through to resolution, ensuring they are progressed efficiently and clients are kept informed throughout the process.

What you'll be doing

• Managing a portfolio of predominantly commercial claims from initial lodgement through to resolution
• Lodging claims and ensure all relevant information and supporting documentation is accurately captured
• Reviewing policy coverage and claim information to ensure the appropriate response is understood and communicated
• Acting as the key point of contact for clients throughout the claims process, providing regular updates and ensuring they understand what is happening at each stage
• Liaising with insurers, repairers, assessors, loss adjusters and other third parties to progress claims and achieve timely outcomes
• Coordinating and follow up quotes, assessments, repairs, invoices and other documentation required to progress claims
• Proactively monitor outstanding actions and ensure claims continue to move towards resolution
• Advocating for clients when dealing with insurers and other stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate claims records and documentation
• Supporting the Claims Manager and wider brokerage team as required

The position offers up to ~20 hours per week, with flexibility around how these hours are structured. Ideally, the successful candidate will work across five days each week to provide consistency for clients and stakeholders.

About You

You'll ideally have previous experience within an insurance claims environment, with commercial claims experience highly regarded.
