Job summary

OceanaGold in Otago, NZ, is seeking a Civil Surveyor for the Macraes Open Pit Survey team. This is a residential role with a drive-in/drive-out option from Dunedin or Oamaru, set against the region’s stunning landscapes.

The position delivers survey support for mine civil projects, ensuring designs are met and construction runs safely and efficiently. A mix of rostered shifts and a focus on safety define the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Surveying preferred.
• Full, clean, current Class 1 drivers’ licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is essential.
• Unrestricted work rights / NZ working visa is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertake set out and as-built surveys on mine civil engineering projects.
• Undertake design set-out and as-built surveys to ensure design compliance and monitor construction performance, including UAV and bathymetric surveys of tailings facilities.
• Undertake deformation monitoring surveys to meet compliance and geotechnical schedules.
• Maintain survey datasets in a systematic and logical manner.
• Input monitoring data and maintain an accurate database of all data for reporting.
• Utilise survey and 3D modelling software to process and disseminate survey data.
• Assist when required and provide absence cover for wider open pit survey team.
• Carry out other duties as reasonably required.

Job Description

Imagine having atrue work-life balance living in the stunning region of Otago. Our Macraes Open Pit Survey team are on the hunt for aCivil Surveyor. This is adrive in, drive out opportunity from nearby Dunedin or Oamaru, each with stunning landscapes, adventures and beaches to explore! For the more adventurous, Queenstown is just a3hour drive, offering endless amounts of exciting activities (skiing, hiking, water sports, fishing and more) to enjoy on your daysoff.

Working a5days on, 2days off, 4days on, 3days off, 6:45am—4:15pm roster, this role will be responsible fordelivering accurate survey support for mine civil engineering projects, ensuring construction works are completed in accordance with design specifications, compliance requirements, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake as directed set out and as-built surveys on mine civil engineering projects (e.g., embankment construction; road realignments).

• Undertake design set-out and as-built surveys as required to ensure design compliance and monitor construction performance, including UAV and bathymetric surveys of tailings storagefacilities.

• Undertake deformation monitoring surveys as directed to meet compliance and geotechnical schedules

• Maintain survey datasets in asystematic and logicalmanner.

• Input monitoring data and maintain an accurate database of all data such that it meets internal and external reporting requirements.

• Utilise survey and 3D modelling computer software to process and disseminate survey data as required in the appropriate format (hardcopy anddigital).

• Assist when required &absence cover for wider open pit surveyteam.

• Carry out all other duties that may reasonably berequired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Surveyingpreferred.

• Full, clean, current Class 1drivers’ licence, ability to drive manual vehicles isessential.

• Unrestricted work rights / NZ working visa ispreferred.

Experience:

• 3years+ surveying experiencepreferred.

• Survey experience in open pit mining and / or large-scale civil engineering projects.

• Demonstrated understanding of civil construction methods wellregarded.

• Demonstrated ability to work safely within ahazardous environment through the utilisation of safety management tools andsystems.
