Job summary

Harper Smith Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer for a leading civil, land development and water projects contractor in New Zealand. The role focuses on complex civil works such as earthworks, drainage, roads and bridges, with a strong emphasis on timely delivery and budget control.

NZ residency is required; you will coordinate subcontractors, scheduling, QA/HS compliance, and liaise with clients and engineers on-site in Tauranga.

Qualifications

• NZ residency is required to be considered for this role.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Experience on NZ civil projects (earthworks, water, roads, subdivisions).

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of contracts to meet budgets and timeframes.
• Coordinate monthly claims with management.
• Schedule staff, subcontractors and equipment for efficient workflow.
• Perform on-ground staff performance reviews with senior management.
• Communicate confidently with clients, engineers and council representatives.
• Ensure works meet required standards and QA/testing requirements.
• Ensure H&S requirements are prepared and followed on site.
