Job summary

WSP Rotorua Laboratory is seeking a Civil Materials Laboratory Technician to support engineering materials testing in the lab and at sites. You’ll plan and carry out tests, produce reports to quality standards, and manage projects with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

The role emphasises safety, data integrity, and teamwork with clients and colleagues. Ideally you’ll have 3+ years in a civil engineering lab, be able to handle heavy materials, and hold a NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience in a civil engineering laboratory or similar environment.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and accuracy with clear testing records.
• Organised, deadline-driven and capable of prioritising tasks.
• Clear communication and collaboration with clients and colleagues.
• Physically able to handle heavy materials and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engineering materials testing across lab and field environments.
• Prepare reports that meet quality requirements for project decisions.
• Own assigned projects, coordinating priorities to completion.
• Contribute to safe work planning, quality systems and lab admin.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
