Job summary

Downer Group is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Whakatipu Transport Programme Alliance (WTPA) project in Queenstown. This 12-month fixed-term role involves practical testing of aggregates and soils both in the field and in the office, ensuring quality against standards and client specs.

You will provide testing support, generate reports, and work as part of a team delivering critical civil infrastructure in the Queenstown area. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Full NZ Class 1 driver's licence is required.
• Experience in civil engineering testing, both lab and field environments, is advantageous.
• Able to lift up to 20 kg.
• Strong attention to detail with good MS Excel and Word skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide testing and technical support for the Whakatipu Transport Programme Alliance (WTPA) Project.
• Test construction aggregates and soils to relevant standards and customer specifications.
• Generate field reports and contribute to office documentation.
