Job summary

HEB Construction’s Civil team in Queenstown is seeking a hardworking Heavy Civil Drainage Labourer to support drainage and civil crews on major projects across the region. This is a hands-on role involving installing stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines, trenching, backfilling, and site clean-up, with training available for the right person.

A full driver’s licence is required; physical outdoor work in all conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil drainage or heavy civil construction (preferred, but training available for the right person)
• Ability to work safely around machinery and trenches
• Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good communication skills
• Full driver’s licence (Class 1 required; WTR an advantage)
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks (drug/alcohol etc.)

Responsibilities

• Assisting with installation of stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines
• Supporting excavation, trenching, shoring, and pipe-laying operations
• Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement work
• Operating small tools and supporting machinery/plant operators
• Spotting for machine operators and maintaining safe exclusion zones

HEB Construction’s Civil team based in Queenstown is looking for a hardworking and reliableHeavy Civil Drainage Labourer to support our drainage and civil crews across the region.

This is a hands-on role working on major infrastructure projects, including 3-waters, subdivisions, roading, and heavy civil earthworks. If you enjoy physical work, want to build your skills, and are keen to be part of a high-performing team, this is the opportunity for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assisting with installation of stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines

Supporting excavation, trenching, shoring, and pipe-laying operations

Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement work

Operating small tools and supporting machinery/plant operators

General labouring duties around active heavy civil construction sites

What We’re Looking For
