Job summary

HEB Construction’s Civil team based in Queenstown is looking for a hardworking and reliable Heavy Civil Drainage Labourer to support our drainage and civil crews across the region.

This hands-on role involves major infrastructure projects, including 3-waters, subdivisions, roading, and heavy civil earthworks. If you enjoy physical work and want to build your skills as part of a high-performing team, this is for you.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil drainage or heavy civil construction is preferred, but training is available for the right person.
• Ability to work safely around machinery and trenches.
• Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and commitment to safety.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and good communication skills.
• Full driver’s licence (Class 1 required; WTR an advantage).
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks (drug/alcohol etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assisting with installation of stormwater, wastewater, and water supply pipelines.
• Supporting excavation, trenching, shoring, and pipe-laying operations.
• Backfilling, compaction, and site reinstatement work.
• Operating small tools and supporting machinery/plant operators.
• Spotting for machine operators and maintaining safe exclusion zones.
• General labouring duties around active heavy civil construction sites.
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organised work area.

What You’ll Be Doing

What We’re Looking For
