Job summary

SouthRoads Ltd is seeking a hardworking civil construction operator to join our drainage team in Otago. You will work with a tight-knit crew across maintenance, siteworks, highways and construction, reporting to the Drainage Division.

Candidates should have civil contracting experience, a Class 1 or 2 licence with WTR endorsements, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. We offer career development, relocation assistance, and a strong local team.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil contracting and the listed activities.
• Hold a Class 1 or 2 licence with WTR endorsements.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to operate and maintain plant and machinery.
• Capable of working in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate drainage division projects and support maintenance, siteworks, highways and construction.
• Work safely as part of a small team, and with supervision when required.
• Maintain and look after plant and equipment.

About the role

We are looking for people with a hardworking, ‘can do' attitude, who are happy working in a team environment as well as without supervision. This role will report to the Drainage Division however this role has a wide variety of work and the operator could be working for a variety of Divisions including Maintenance, Siteworks, Highways and Construction.

The people we are looking for should:

• Have previous experience in the civil contracting industry and can competently undertake the following activities
  • Culvert Installations
  • Water Channel Cleaning
  • Sealed Road Dig Outs
  • Rock Placement (scour protection)
• Have a Class 1 or 2 license, with WTR endorsements
• Be able to look after and maintain plant and machinery
• Be tidy, energetic and enthusiastic, with good communication skills
• Have the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
