Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Blenheim (Marlborough) is seeking a Civil Construction Worker to join our civil team. The role focuses on pipelaying and drainage work across Marlborough, with a strong emphasis on safe practices and quality workmanship.

You will contribute to drainage construction projects, install and maintain water mains, and support road works as part of a collaborative crew. Outdoor work and a can-do attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Background in civil drainage/construction and ability to deliver quality workmanship.
• Strong focus on safety and ability to work in outdoor environments.
• Experience with pipelaying, water mains, and drainage projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install new or maintain existing water mains.
• Renew and upgrade sewer, water and stormwater mains.
• Work on PE pipelines with electro-fusion and butt welding.
• Assist with excavation, backfilling, compaction and reinstatement.
• Support general road construction and related civil works.

We’re on the lookout for a Civil Construction Worker with a strong preference for someone with proven pipelaying and drainage experience, to join our high achieving Civil team working on a range of projects in the sought-after picturesque region of Marlborough. If you’ve got the right attitude, enjoy working outdoors, and want to be part of a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll bring to the table

Ideally you have a background and experience in civil drainage/construction and can deliver quality workmanship. You are motivated, productive and share the same respect we do for creating a safe working environment. You don’t need to tick every box, but it would be great if you have:

• Class 1 licence, with Class 2 or 4 a bonus
• WTR endorsements
• Connexis Level 3 Certificate in Water Reticulation or similar (would be an advantage but not essential)
• Experience in civil construction, drainage, pipelaying, or related work
• A can-do attitude and the ability to problem solve
• An unwavering commitment towards safety with a safety record to match

Role Accountabilities

This role includes performing a wide range of drainage construction projects including:

• Installing new or completing maintenance of existing water mains throughout the network
• Network sewer, water and stormwater main renewals and upgrades
• PE pipeline and connections requiring electro-fusion and butt welding
• Assisting with excavation, backfilling, compaction and reinstatement
• Supporting general road construction and associated civil works
