Job summary

AWF New Zealand is seeking experienced Machinery Operators to join crews delivering a range of civil construction projects in Wellington and the wider region. You will operate excavators and other machinery on retaining wall builds and earthworks, following project plans and quality standards.

We value candidates with proven machinery operating experience in civil construction, the ability to read plans, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Proven machinery operating experience within civil construction.
• Experience delivering concrete, timber, RE, MSE, and retaining wall construction works preferred but not essential.
• Strong understanding of civil construction and earthworks.
• Ability to work from plans and follow specifications.
• Commitment to Health & Safety.
• Class 2 license with WTR endorsements.
• Reliable, motivated, and team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Operating machinery on retaining wall and civil construction projects
• Supporting construction of mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) structures
• Assisting with reinforced earth (RE) retaining wall installations
• Working alongside skilled civil construction crews
• Carrying out excavation, placement, and backfilling activities
• Maintaining safe and efficient site operations
• Assisting with construction of concrete, timber, RE, and MSE retaining walls
• Following project plans and quality standards
