Job summary

JB Hi-Fi Group is launching a new Distribution Centre in Christchurch. We seek a DC Lead to shape operations, establish processes, and drive safe, efficient outbound delivery to support a market-leading electronics retailer.

You will oversee security, maintenance, and carrier engagement while partnering with store teams to optimise inventory, space, and supplier deliveries. A strong focus on safety, cost control and continuous improvement is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead DC operations and outbound delivery routines for a new Christchurch Distribution Centre.
• Ensure security, housekeeping, contractor/visitor management and maintenance standards.
• Oversee delivery activities and carrier compliance with policies and SOPs.
• Coordinate with store teams on transport tasks, transfers and stock display.
• Manage risk, safety practices, investigations and corrective actions.
• Monitor budgets for labour, freight, consumables and facilities.

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity to lead DC operations for our brand-new JB Hi-Fi Distribution Centre currently being established in Christchurch. Based in Yaldhurst, Christchurch, this role offers a unique chance to be part of the DC start-up journey, helping shape operations, build processes and contribute to the success of a new state-of-the-art distribution facility. The DC Lead will support Distribution Centre (DC) operations and outbound delivery routines, effectively and safely supporting operational effectiveness for a market leading retailer in Consumer Electronics and big and bulky Home Delivery. *Note, this position may require working one weekend day*

• Manage the DCfacilityin terms of relevant security, housekeeping, contractor / visitor management and maintenance requirements and standards
• Ensureappropriateprocesses,controls,oversightofalldeliveryactivitiesandexperiencestoensurecarriercompliancewithCoRpolicyandstandardoperatingprocedures
• Overseecomplianceandeffectivenessoflocaldeliverycrewengagementandmanagementroutinesperformedby carrier managementsuchastoolboxroutines.
• WorkwithStore Teams to reinforce understanding and awareness of related routines as relevant to allied transport tasks - eg store transfers, blended freight sales, display stock sales
• Ensureappropriateprocesses,managementcontrolsandoversighttoensurealignmentofactivitieswithcorepolicyandstandardoperatingprocedures,including:
  • Inventory integrity
  • Space management
  • Inbound supplier deliveries andaccuratereceipt of Purchase Orders
  • Bulky Goods Returns, claims managementand recycling process
  • Outbound deliveries includingproducthandover to third party carriers
• Oversee risk management activities, including incident investigations, corrective actions, and ongoing improvement of safety practices.
• Manage and monitor labour, freight, consumable and facility budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.
