Job summary

SkyCity Hamilton is seeking a Chef de Partie to lead junior chefs and assist the Sous Chef in delivering high-quality food and services across SkyCity Hamilton outlets.

You will manage kitchen operations, uphold hygiene and safety standards, and contribute to a positive, high-energy dining environment. This full-time role requires flexibility for night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Proficient in high-quality food preparation and presentation.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Solid knowledge of hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee junior chefs and support the Sous Chef to ensure quality and consistency.
• Be a role model for SkyCity's values and people leadership.
• Assist in achieving EBITDA through effective operational management.
• Communicate clearly with supervisory and frontline staff and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with back-of-house and front-of-house teams.

Mō te Tūranga | About the role:

As a Chef de Partie, you will oversee junior chefs and provide support to the Sous Chef to ensure delivery of high-quality professional food preparation and cookery services to SkyCity Hamilton customers, through the provision of excellent quality food and meals in the SkyCity Hamilton outlets.

You'll also:

• Be a role model for SkyCity's values for people leadership
• Assist in achieving EBITDA through operational management
• Be the initial point of contact for supervisory and frontline employees and to know when to escape any issues to the Sous chef
• Demonstrate proactivity in delivery, process improvement, and health and safety
• Maintain excellent relationships with back and front of house colleagues

This is a Full-time opportunity, working 40 hours per week, on a roster which includes nights and weekends.

It'll be your winning attitude, passion for cookery, and ability to work under pressure which will make you a great fit for the CdP role.

To be successful in this role, you will also;

• Have fantastic interpersonal skills and be a confident and clear communicator
• Be well presented with a high level of professionalism
• Demonstrated supervisory experience
• Excellent cooking and food preparation and presentation skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of hygiene/occupational health and safety requirements
• Excellent personal presentation and can demonstrate understanding of the hygiene requirements of the role
• Need to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think on your feet
• Be prepared to be flexible with regard to working hours and willing and able to undertake shift work requirements
