Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an experienced Chef or Cook to join the kitchen of a busy suburban North West Christchurch bar. You will work alongside the new Owner Chef, handling afternoon and evening shifts while preparing lunch, dinner, and bar snacks seven days a week.

Required are knife skills, grill and pan work with 2–5 years of experience, plus the ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and work both unsupervised and as part of a team. Some medium-heavy lifting may be involved.

We need an experienced Chef or Cook to complete the team:

with proven experience, including knife skills, grill and pan work (2 to 5 years)

keen to learn (able and willing to follow instruction)

able to work unsupervised and as part of a team

some medium-heavy lifting may be required

Pay rate $27.50-$36 per hour

All applicants should

be available to work a mixture of day and evening shifts over a 7 day roster

and show a high level of personal and professional hygiene.

30-50 hours per week with some minimal split shifts when required.

Start date negotiable for suitable applicants from late September 2026

Permanent position with good pay and conditions.

Applicants must be legally allowed to work in NZ.
