Job summary

L’affare, a Wellington coffee pioneer, is seeking a keen part-time Chef for our College Street Café. You will work across the kitchen, bringing creativity to seasonal dishes, prepare cabinet food and items to a high standard, with some baking required. Daily prep, cleanliness and team support are part of the role.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced setting, take pride in food quality and presentation, and be eager to learn from our Head Chef while assisting and training colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

• Completed professional culinary training with industry experience.
• Able to bake as required.

About us:

We’re L’affare. The coffee business. Ever since 1990. We were born out of a love for espresso, in Wellington at our café and HQ. 33 years later, we’re still there on College Street.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Chef to join our kitchen team in our College Street Café. You'll be working in all aspects of the kitchen, including using your creativity to support our Head Chef with delicious new seasonal dishes. You'll prepare a range of cabinet food and menu items to a high standard, some baking will be required too. You’ll also complete daily food prepping, maintain our kitchen cleanliness and support the wider team when the pressure is on.

This is a permanent part-time role, offering 28 hours per week, with some required weekend work.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in quality and presentation of food, who is agile and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll have completed your professional training and have industry experience to go with it. You’ll be eager to learn more from our Head Chef and be a strong team player, helping to support and train your colleagues too.
