Job summary

L’affare in Wellington is seeking a part-time Chef to join our College Street Café. You’ll work across all kitchen areas, developing seasonal dishes, preparing cabinet items, and assisting with baking and daily prep while keeping the kitchen clean.

You will support the Head Chef and team in a fast-paced environment, delivering quality and presentation. Applicants must have professional training and NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Qualifications

• Completed professional culinary training and industry experience.
• Ability to work across kitchen sections and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong focus on quality, presentation and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cabinet foods and menu items to a high standard.
• Some baking will be required.
• Complete daily food prep and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Support Head Chef and wider team during peak periods.
• Be a strong team player and willing to train colleagues.

We’re L’affare. The coffee business. Ever since 1990. We were born out of a love for espresso, in Wellington at our café and HQ. 33 years later, we’re still there on College Street.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Chef to join our kitchen team in our College Street Café. You'll be working in all aspects of the kitchen, including using your creativity to support our Head Chef with delicious new seasonal dishes. You'll prepare a range of cabinet food and menu items to a high standard, some baking will be required too. You’ll also complete daily food prepping, maintain our kitchen cleanliness and support the wider team when the pressure is on.

This is a permanent part-time role, offering 28 hours per week, with some required weekend work.
