Job summary

Transpower New Zealand Limited is seeking a permanent Change Manager to lead and embed change across major Transmission System Operations projects in a future-focused, 24/7 environment. You will partner with project managers and sponsors, develop strategies, assess readiness, manage risks, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure adoption across processes, people and technology.

Transpower's purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

The group proactively identifies the capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. It also optimises planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes, including SCADA applications, market systems, real-time systems, and real-time asset management technologies used by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.

The Investment Delivery team within OPTI manages the formal joint programme relationship with the Electricity Authority and works collaboratively with our Information Services Technology (IST) division to deliver the Operations work programme.

As one of two permanent OPTI Change Managers, and part of our broader Change Community of Practice, you'll play a key role in developing change strategies and plans that assess readiness, identify impacts, integrate change activities into project plans, and support effective stakeholder communication.

Working alongside project managers and sponsors, you'll lead change for projects and initiatives to support successful implementation and adoption. You'll build relationships with people passionate about keeping the energy flowing for Aotearoa, while developing practical mitigation strategies for business impacts.

You'll bring proven experience as a business change manager or practitioner in a complex, large-scale organisation. You'll be known for clear, concise communication, strong stakeholder engagement, and keeping change activity focused on business outcomes.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver and embed business change across process, people , and technology.
• Previous experience applying change principles, methodologies, and tools to assess readiness, manage risks, and support successful adoption in varied contexts.
• Proven ability to influence, constructively challenge and move people and projects at pace toward a common vision or goal.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Previous experience aligning change initiatives to strategy , business outcomes , and measurable benefits.
