Mō te tūō | About the role
  • Fixed term role for 18 months.
  • Support the IRIS Next Gen project, a major digital transformation replacing systems that support core council services.
  • Work across the project and business to understand new future processes and how they will affect people, roles, hand-offs, controls and ways of working.
  • Document gaps and change impacts, assess readiness and adoption risks, and help develop and deliver practical change, engagement, training and adoption activities.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex change clear and relevant for different audiences.
  • Practical experience completing change impact, gap, readiness or training-needs analysis on large or complex projects.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with close attention to detail and traceable documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, collaboration, influencing and consensus-building skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, prioritising competing demands in a fast-moving project environment.
  • A practical, people-focused approach to identifying barriers to adoption and recommending workable responses.
  • A relevant bachelor qualification in business or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Change analyst or change management experience on a large-scale IT project in a complex organisation.
  • Change management certification, such as Prosci or ADKAR, is desirable but not essential.
  • Five or more years’ experience using complex business, systems or process analysis techniques, methods and standards.
  • Experience in local government or developing training material for adult learners would be an advantage.
Mō te tīma | About the team
  • You will work within the IRIS Next Gen project team, predominantly alongside the change management workstream.
  • You will collaborate with the Change Manager, Process Lead, Business Analysts, project leaders, subject matter experts and business teams across council.

  • We work hard to care for the mighty Waikato, so current and future generations will benefit from a healthy environment, strong economy, and vibrant communities.
  • Our mahi is as diverse as the region we care for and the people who share it. Our work helps look after our region's water, soil, air, geothermal areas and coasts - so we can all enjoy these precious resources for generations to come.
  • Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • By partnering with iwi and working with many others in our communities, our collective kaitiakitanga will make the Waikato region even better. Together, we’ll create a sustainable future that will make a positive difference to people’s lives.
