Job summary

Ventia's Whangarei Construction team is seeking a Certified Drainlayer to deliver high-quality drainage and civil construction works across the region.

Working with an experienced crew, you will install drainage pipelines, operate excavators, read plans, and maintain safety and records. This hands-on role offers career development within a national organisation.

Qualifications

• Certified Drainlayer qualification is required.
• 5+ years’ experience in drainage installation, earthworks or civil construction.
• PGDB certification.
• Strong understanding of drainage and infrastructure construction practices.
• Ability to read plans and construction drawings.
• Experience operating excavators and other civil plant.
• Class 2 NZ Driver Licence with WTR endorsement preferred.
• Strong communication and team-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Install drainage pipelines, sumps and associated infrastructure.
• Operate excavators and other earthmoving plant.
• Carry out earthworks, road construction and maintenance.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
• Complete daily plant inspections and maintenance checks.
• Monitor productivity and support project delivery.
• Maintain accurate records including timesheets and plant utilisation.
• Work safely and identify hazards to protect the team and public.
