Job summary

Foodies is seeking a Centralised Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of stores across Foodstuffs North Island and its member network.

You will build strong relationships with store owners and payroll contacts, ensuring accurate, compliant payroll services and practical support. This role requires adapting to high-volume workloads and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience in payroll administration or similar role.
• Knowledge of NZ Holidays Act, payroll practice including PAYE, ACC and parental leave.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for assigned stores accurately and on time.
• Manage rosters in PayGlobal and maintain payroll records and leaves.
• Prepare PAYE reports, support audits and respond to store queries.
• Apply payroll legislation and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Provide cover across stores and support process improvements.

Come and join our centralised payroll team and deliver best in class back-office support across Foodstuffs North Island and its member network!

As a Centralised Payroll Specialist, you’ll manage end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of stores. You’ll build trusted relationships with store owners and payroll contacts, delivering accurate, compliant payroll services and practical support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing accurate and timely end-to-end payroll for assigned stores
• Managing rosters in PayGlobal and maintaining payroll records, employee changes and leave balances
• Preparing payroll and PAYE reports, supporting annual audit activity and responding to store queries
• Applying relevant payroll legislation and escalating complex system or technical matters when appropriate
• Providing cover across other stores and supporting process improvements, system changes and store ownership transitions

He kōrero mōu - About you

You’ll be comfortable managing a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines and responding flexibly to store needs. You’ll also bring clear communication skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships.

We’re looking for:

• At least three years’ experience as a payroll administrator or in a similar payroll role
• A good understanding of the New Zealand Holidays Act, employment legislation and payroll practices, including PAYE, ACC and parental leave
• Strong attention to detail, time management and written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• PayGlobal or SAP experience, and payroll system configuration knowledge, would be advantageous
