Beca, a leading engineering and advisory firm in New Zealand, is seeking a Category Manager - Delivery & People to lead procurement across a diverse portfolio that supports project delivery, our people, health and safety, and innovation.

You will develop category strategies, strengthen supplier performance, manage risk, and deliver commercial value while embedding best-practice procurement and maximizing Oracle Fusion benefits.

Qualifications

Proven ability to develop category strategies delivering value for money.
Experience leading end-to-end procurement across multiple categories.
Strong supplier relationship and performance management.
Understanding of procurement risk, contractual considerations and due diligence.
Ability to analyse spend data and model savings or cost avoidance.
Knowledge of sustainability and social procurement requirements.

At Beca, we're transforming how procurement creates value across our business. As Category Manager - Delivery & People, you'll lead procurement across a diverse portfolio that supports project delivery, our people, health and safety, and innovation. You'll partner with stakeholders across the business to develop category strategies, strengthen supplier performance, manage risk, and deliver commercial value in areas critical to Beca's success. As part of our Better Buying at Beca transformation, you'll help build a modern procurement function with stronger governance, smarter systems, and greater supplier value. You'll also play a key role in embedding best-practice procurement and maximising the benefits of Oracle Fusion across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to step into a broader, more strategic category management role. Working closely with the Group Procurement Manager, you'll lead key initiatives that improve supplier outcomes, create commercial value, manage supply chain risk, and support sustainability and social procurement objectives.

Ko wai koe | About you

You are an experienced procurement professional who can develop and implement category strategies that deliver value for money, improve supplier performance and support Beca's environmental, social and governance priorities. You will be comfortable leading end-to-end procurement activities, from market analysis and sourcing through to negotiation, contracting and ongoing supplier relationship management. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders across Delivery Practice, People & Culture, Health & Safety, Clients & Markets, Finance and Innovation. Your ability to understand different business needs, influence senior stakeholders and turn complex requirements into practical commercial solutions will be central to your success. You will lead commercial negotiations and support contract, supplier performance and relationship management across a global portfolio. As Beca's subject matter expert for the category, you will provide insights into market conditions, emerging trends and supply chain health. You will also work with the wider Procurement team to ensure our practices are consistent, connected and customer-focused across Beca and relevant client activities.

Ideally, You Will Bring

Strong commercial negotiation and category management capability.
Experience across people-related services, professional services, project delivery or health and safety categories.
Demonstrated supplier relationship and performance management experience.
An understanding of procurement risk, contractual considerations, supplier due diligence and compliance.
The ability to analyse spend data, develop business cases and model savings or cost-avoidance opportunities.
Knowledge of sustainability, social procurement, supplier diversity and modern slavery requirements.
Confidence working with procurement and enterprise systems, with experience using Oracle Fusion or a comparable platform beneficial.
Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
