Job summary

Mitre 10 in Auckland is seeking a highly organised Category Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support category initiatives across our retail and trade channels.

You’ll collaborate with Category Managers, suppliers, stores and marketing to coordinate promotions, manage timelines, prepare materials and tools, and generate performance reports.

This role rewards attention to detail, teamwork and a proactive approach to handling data, pricing changes and system updates.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
• Confidence with data and systems, including strong Excel capability.
• Ability to build relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
• Proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in where needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating promotional campaigns across in-store and media channels, including national retail and trade programmes
• Managing timelines and ensuring all promotional activity is delivered accurately and on time
• Supporting the creation and distribution of promotional materials and ordering tools
• Working with suppliers, stores and internal teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution
• Generating reports on promotional performance, including availability and sales uplift
• Supporting supplier onboarding, reporting, and account management processes
• Managing price changes and ensuring accurate communication to stakeholders
• Assisting with SKU setup, product data maintenance and system updates
• Responding to store and customer queries in a timely manner
