Job summary

The Salvation Army operates Family Stores in Queenstown, seeking a casual Family Store Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service, process donations, and manage stock. You will greet customers and donors, price items, and help maintain a well-presented shop floor.

The role requires reliability, a positive team attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with regular lifting and cash handling. Flexibility to work some public holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills and ability to de-escalate situations.
• Resilient, positive, people-oriented with diverse backgrounds.
• Physically fit for regular lifting in a fast-paced retail setting.
• Capable of using POS software and tablets for transactions.
• Self-managing, task-focused under pressure with good written and verbal communication.
• Right to work in New Zealand with MOJ clearance/police check as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to customers and donors.
• Receive, sort, price and merchandise donated goods.
• Process sales and handle cash; perform end-of-day cash up accurately.
• Keep the store well presented, stocked and tidy.
• Ensure compliance with policies, health & safety, and audit controls.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and assist with broader duties.
