Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking carpenters for permanent, full‑time roles on the West Coast. You will bring at least two years of carpentry experience, with residential or commercial exposure, and a clean driving record. Travel to sites is occasional, with travel costs paid by the employer.

Responsibilities include interpreting plans, selecting materials, cutting, laminating and installing components, loading tools, and supporting concrete tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of carpentry experience (residential or commercial).
  • Ability to read and apply plans and specs.
  • Experience ordering materials and preparing layouts.
  • Fitting, cutting, laminating and shaping construction materials.
  • Load/unload materials and distribute to sites; assist concrete work.

The roles are permanent, full-time employment with a minimum of 30 hours of work per week guaranteed.

The successful candidates must have at least 2 years of carpentry experience, residential or commercial. The role may require you to travel out of town from time to time; the employer will pay for the travel costs.

You must have at least 2 contactable references, a clean criminal record and a driver's license.

Job Description Summary:

  • Have excellent carpentry trade skills, experience, and knowledge.
  • A good level of understanding and ability to work of plans and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation.
  • May order or select timbers and materials and prepare layouts.
  • Fitting, cutting, laminating, and shaping different types of construction materials.
  • Loading and unloading building materials, machinery, and tools and distributing them to construction or road sites.
  • Mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete/ other aggregate mixtures, using portable cement/ aggregate mixers.
