Job summary

Oranga Tamariki in Tauranga is seeking permanent Allied Support Workers to bolster frontline Social Work support for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau. You will work under Social Workers to enable statutory and professional practice while not performing social work duties, focusing on caregiver recruitment, training coordination and placement support.

Travel across the region may be required and some after-hours work possible.

Qualifications

• Experience in community support and working with Māori and Pasifika cultures.
• Ability to handle emotional situations with empathy and strong communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers and stakeholders and maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing support across the region based on operational priorities and service demand.
• Travel across the region and occasionally outside the region.
• Supporting caregiver engagement, community outreach and caregiver recruitment activities.
• Coordinating caregiver training and supporting learning and development initiatives.
• Assisting with caregiver assessments, approvals, support planning and ongoing caregiver support.
• Supporting placement and matching activities through information gathering, caregiver profile development and placement coordination.
• Fostering positive working relationships with caregivers, whānau, community organisations and internal stakeholders.
• From time-to-time, work outside normal business hours may be required.
