Job summary

Oranga Tamariki is seeking Allied Support Workers to provide consistent operational support to frontline Social Work teams and caregivers across the Bay of Plenty region. These permanent roles help enable social workers to focus on statutory requirements and professional practice.

As an Allied Support Worker, you will support caregiver recruitment, engagement, training coordination, placements and administrative tasks, with travel across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience in the community assisting or supporting people in need.
• Experience with Māori and/or Pasifika cultures.
• Ability to handle emotional situations with empathy.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work with cross-cultural practices; knowledge of tikanga Māori.
• Driver's licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide regional support based on priorities and may travel across the region.
• Support caregiver engagement, community outreach and caregiver recruitment activities.
• Coordinate caregiver training and support learning and development initiatives.
• Assist with caregiver assessments, approvals, support planning and ongoing caregiver support.
• Support placement and matching activities through information gathering and coordination.
• Foster positive working relationships with caregivers, whānau and stakeholders.
• From time-to-time, work outside normal business hours may be required.
