Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in Auckland is hiring a Supervisor Caregiver Social Worker. You will lead a team of social workers to support caregivers throughout applications, assessments, training and ongoing guidance. The role emphasizes evidence-based decisions and strong stakeholder collaboration.

The position requires a current SWRB registration, HDSA, and an ability to build relationships across communities. A NZ driver license and robust communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• A social work qualification recognised by SWRB and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Full registration with SWRB and current practising certificate.
• Sound statutory social work knowledge and practice.
• Experience with people management, including coaching and mentoring.
• Strong relationship-building experience across communities.
• A current, full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
• A high level of written and verbal communication skills.
• An aptitude to make a difference with resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong cultural competency and confidence in Te Ao Māori, Tikanga Māori, and Pacific cultures.

Responsibilities

• Lead a caregiving recruitment and support team focused on valued and supported caregivers.
• Provide guidance to social workers through caregiver applications, assessments, and training.
• Support ongoing caregiver development and evidence-based decision making.
• Develop team capability and capacity through leadership and practice guidance.
• Ensure best practice and delivery of services for tamariki and rangatahi.
