Job summary

Victoria University of Wellington is seeking two Capability Developers, Work-Integrated Learning to join the Akura - WIL Hub within the Office of the Tumu Maruānuku - Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic on a permanent, full-time basis. These roles enable high-quality WIL across the University by building staff capability, developing curriculum and student readiness initiatives that support graduate outcomes.

• Significant experience in work-integrated learning, curriculum development, student support, or employability skill development.
• Experience designing and facilitating professional development for academic or professional staff.
• Strong understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment and student support practice.
• Proven ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries and with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience developing resources, guidelines or standards that support teaching and learning practice.
• Experience working with digital learning tools, and placement management systems (e.g., InPlace).
• Excellent communication and relationship-building and facilitation skills.
• Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to work in diverse cultural environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and reflective practice skills.

Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is seeking two Capability Developers, Work-Integrated Learning to join the newly established Akura - Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Hub within the Office of the Tumu Maruānuku - Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic on a permanent, full-time basis.

These exciting roles play a key part in enabling high-quality work-integrated learning across the University by building staff capability and ensuring students are well prepared and supported to participate in meaningful WIL experiences. Working across Faculties, Schools and central services, you will contribute to the development of curriculum, professional learning opportunities, and student readiness initiatives that support successful graduate outcomes.

You will provide expert guidance on WIL pedagogy and practice, lead capability-building initiatives, develop resources and standards, and facilitate communities of practice that help embed effective and sustainable WIL across the University.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with experience in curriculum development, learning design, work-integrated learning, employability, or academic development to make a meaningful impact on student learning and graduate success.

You will be a collaborative and solutions-focused professional with a passion for teaching, learning, and student success. You will have experience supporting staff and students in educational settings and be confident in designing and facilitating learning opportunities that build capability and improve outcomes.

Key requirements:

Significant experience in work-integrated learning, curriculum development, student support, or employability skill development.

Experience designing and facilitating professional development for academic or professional staff.

Strong understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment and student support practice.

Proven ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries and with diverse stakeholder groups.

Experience developing resources, guidelines or standards that support teaching and learning practice.

Experience working with digital learning tools, and placement management systems (eg: InPlace).

Excellent communication and relationship-building and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with academic staff, subject matter experts, partners and learners.

A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice.

Knowledge of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an ability to work effectively within diverse cultural environments.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and reflective practice skills.
