Job summary

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is seeking an Assistant - Operations & Maintenance to keep campuses safe, welcoming, and functional for tauira, kaimahi, and manuhiri. Reporting to the Manager - Operations, you will support facilities, fleet, contractor management, and asset oversight across multiple sites.

You will coordinate maintenance, deliver preventative programmes, and maintain high standards of safety and presentation while building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Current Full New Zealand Driver Licence (Class 1) with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
• Experience in facilities, maintenance, property, asset, or operational coordination.
• Practical experience using small machinery and maintenance equipment safely, such as drills and water blasters.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and coordinate activities across multiple sites.
• Experience working with contractors and service providers.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety practices within operational environments.
• Confidence using digital systems to monitor, record, and report maintenance and operational activities.
• The practical capability to undertake basic maintenance tasks and safely move or manoeuvre items upto 20kg.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor reactive and planned maintenance across Tamaki campus sites.
• Deliver preventative maintenance programmes to support asset condition and performance.
• Ensure facilities, grounds, and learning environments meet safety, functionality, presentation and compliance standards.
• Support fleet operations by coordinating vehicle servicing, repairs, and maintenance.
• Assist with campus reconfigurations, storage operations, logistics, and readiness activities.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality service delivery and timely completion.
• Maintain accurate records, track maintenance requests, and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
• Act as a trusted contact for facility-related queries with kaimahi and stakeholders.
